Alec offered to take our packs to the train station for us this morning. He couldn't take the 3 of us and our packs at the same time. It's a UK car size thing. So we walked down to the train station, about 15 minutes from the camp.
While waiting at the train station I started talking with a Scottish couple from Edinburgh. I hope I convinced them come and stay on Vancouver Island. They had thought of a holiday in Canada, perhaps Vancouver so I was assuring them Vancouver Island is the real destination you want to go in BC.
Our train was spot on time, but of course we weren't the only Scouts leaving on the 10:51 train to Glasgow. And the train had left Inverness pretty packed in the first place. So we didn't even get a seat until we hit Perth, where quite a few people got off the train to change to the one going to Edinburgh. The rest of the train ride from Perth to Glasgow was reasonably short and we arrived at Queen Street station exactly on time at 12:46.
Nanette Aitken picked us up at the train station with her friend Sheila and took us back to her house. We had a nice lunch and a chat before heading out again. Sheila took Shannon and Shayla to a shopping centre while Nanette took me to visit Connie. I had a good visit with Aunt Connie but only about an hour or so. It is difficult for her to talk for a long time. I read her the letters I was given for her and showed her some photos. She was very glad to hear about what everyone was up to and of course very glad to see me. It was hard to say goodbye to her after such a short visit and it was very emotional. I'm so glad I was able to get to visit her while over here.
When we got back from visiting Aunt Connie the girls were already back with Sheila. We had a nice dinner and then the girls spent some time getting their Facebook accounts up to date with all their new Scottish friends. And also keeping in touch with their Canadian friends at home, having been pretty much deprived of Facebook for at least the duration of the camp. While the girls did Facebook I caught up on the Scout blog and started this new one.
